A new blog post and other updates from Gavin
Space Shuttles Map
In July I went on a road trip and visited two space shuttles. One in Washington, D.C. at the Udvar Hazy Center and one (a shuttle trainer) at the National Air Force Museum in Dayton, OH. After the trip, I was inspired to create a map of the current space shuttle locations:
And there’s an accompanying web page with a bit more information on each.
World Countries Centroids
In mathematics and physics, the centroid or geometric center of a plane figure is the arithmetic mean position of all the points in the figure. Informally, it is the point at which a cutout of the shape (with uniformly distributed mass) could be perfectly balanced on the tip of a pin.
I made an update to the world-countries-centroids project: the country centers are now at the center of the largest land mass. The center locations of the USA, Chile, and a few others are now more reasonable.
Blog Posts
There’s a new post on the blog about how to create draggable popups in the ArcGIS API for JavaScript. I also wrote an article for the official Esri blog (a first for me) about using Svelte with that same mapping API.
